The Saudi Sports Arbitration Center Launches Its Participation In The Second Riyadh International Disputes Week
The Saudi Sports Arbitration Center will launch its participation next Monday, February 24, 2025, in the activities of the "Riyadh International Disputes Week (RIDW25)", in its second edition, which is scheduled to be held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh
Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Bassam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Sports Arbitration Center, stated that the Center’s participation in the second edition of Riyadh International Disputes Week will be marked by the organization of the "Saudi Sports Arbitration Center Forum." The forum will feature three panel discussions and a workshop focusing on recent developments and challenges in the field of sports law. It will also highlight the role of sports institutions and stakeholders in promoting knowledge in the areas of sports law, arbitration, and mediation in the Kingdom, and in raising awareness about mechanisms for resolving sports disputes.
The Center’s first panel discussion will be titled "Complementary Roles of Sports Institutions in Resolving Sports Disputes," with participants including Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Bassam, Chairman of the Saudi Sports Arbitration Center; Legal Advisor to the Minister of Sports, Firas Al-Rubaie; and Chairman of the Appeals Committee of the Saudi Football Federation, Ahmed Al-Quniaan.
The second panel discussion, titled "Sports Law and Justice from the Athletes’ Perspective," will feature Hani Al-Mohammed, Assistant Director of Athlete Affairs at the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee; Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser, Chairman of the Hearing Panel at the Saudi Anti-Doping Committee; international sports arbitrator Ahmed Abu Amara; and Saudi Olympic champion Tareq Hamdi.
The third panel, titled "The Role of Sports Law in Supporting Investment in the Sports Sector," will include legislative expert Dr. Faisal Al-Fadel; CEO of the Saudi Sports Arbitration Center, Jaber Al-Juhani; and Club Investment Manager at the Ministry of Sports, Shahad Al-Sagheer.
The Center’s participation in the forum will conclude with a workshop titled "Sports Arbitration: Principles and Procedures," led by Dr. Mohammed Bassam and CEO Jaber Al-Juhani.
It is worth noting that the Center’s participation in the second edition of Riyadh International Disputes Week builds on the success of its involvement in the first edition, during which the Center held two panel discussions and two workshops with the participation of 10 experts in sports arbitration, attracting over 400 attendees. The Center’s pavilion also welcomed 2,000 visitors from 79 countries.
